| I'm posting here because this didn't seem like maintenance, lol.
Can anyone explain to me the in's and out's of rolling the rear fenders on my 242? I've gotta tackle this one, STAT.

| Remove offensive material by whatever means necessary with whatever is available to you & be prepared to regret what you've done.
Large rocks, vice grips, peen hammers, fender rollers all work in descending order of ghetto.

| Least obtrusive on a 240 is to actually cut out the part of the wheel arch. Believe Slammed145 did this on his wagon. edit: actually, looking at the pic I have of his car, he did nothing, and he's on 17" | |

| read somewhere that i need to pull the fenders? drill out the spot wells on the fender lip then spread em and roll? can't I just roll the lip? was gonna use a heat gun and get it nice and warm and start it with the hammer and roll it with the fender roller. | |

| You need flare for wider tire/wheels or you're just rubbing with what you've got?
& What are you rubbing on?

| I ask because before you alter the body, you want to make sure there aren't other factors at work. I know you're waiting on suspension parts, it might be best to deal with it after they're installed.
I'm thinking you've got rear-end alignment issues, doing the crab walk; also why your ujoints suddenly bit it. Also the shocks & struts are designed for your old suspension travel, and are allowing to bottom out on something other than the bumpstops.
Even stock everything rubs the inner fenderwells on the rear.

| not rubbing so bad right now, though i've got less than three millimeters between my rear tire sidewalls and the 90* fender lip...the part that gets rolled.
but i'll be contributing 32mm next week to each rear wheel by way of spacers...not gonna fit without some rolling.
if you haven't guessed it already, i'm working my way from sorta kinda almost maybe flush to hellaflush. on the maitas we just heat up the quarter and start rolling down that lip. this car's got cleaner paint than my miata, so i wanna take the time to not damage it.

| Yeah, just wanted to make sure you weren't rubbing the inner on the DS and the outer on the Pass side.
RWC can tell you better than I can what the old enamel paint will do under heat. Looking at the spotwelds, I think only two skins come together there. There's hope it'll budge.

| so sounds like you're saying regular fender rolling rules apply. going to heat em up, start with the mallet, so the lips start to bend and then hit it with the roller. | |

No idea really, good luck with it.

| in case anyone's interested, used a cutting wheel and cut along the fender lip every 5-6 inches, made it a lot easier to fold each small tab back, than the whole fender lip as one...rub no more | |

| Nice. Saw you did that in your new rubber update. Looked clean. Get some paint on the cuts so cancer doesn't start. | |

| I need to roll my rear when I get the other wheels on the car so I can go lower than last time.
